Paint to Music

• I’m often asked how I find my inspirations. I think most folks are baffled by the diverseness of my work. Inspiration comes easy for me and I find it all around and inside. I don’t necessarily paint what I see, but the sense of it, that feeling or energy of something may transfer into a painting. It is clearly an intuitive process, of going within and allowing the image to surface on it's own. I just nudge it. I find "music" is one of those things that ignites creativity for me, getting lost in a classical piece or a latin rhythm. I love to create my own music and find the process similar to my abstract, they are my inner expressions put to music. It wasn’t a great leap to start to imbed the written music inside some of my work or use music to bring forth a specific palette. So turn on a little music...maybe something that you don't typically play and let it surround and inspire your your next piece. Even if you can't see it...a little of that music will be inside it somewhere!
